Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh's father, Datuk Yeoh Kian Teik, died at his home in Ipoh on Wednesday, according to Malaysian reports. He was 89.

His wife, Datin Janet Yeoh, reportedly told The New Straits Times that he died after a short illness. He was a former chairman of Perak Malaysian Chinese Association and a transportation tycoon, who founded the Sri Maju executive coach service in 1975.

According to a son of the ex-politician, Michelle, who was a Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), was with her father in his final hours.

She is set to star in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Legend, the sequel to Lee Ang's 2000 martial arts movie, which was one of her biggest hits. Her life partner is Jean Todt, the ex-Ferrari CEO who is now president of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Some reports say they are married; others say they are engaged.
