The viral sensation, which was funded through global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, has been released on the Internet, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Swedish short action movie Kung Fury is written, directed by and starring David Sandberg. The theme song, True Survivor, is sung by American actor and singer David Hasselhoff.
It is a homage to 1980s martial arts and police action films.
Running short on funds, Sandberg and his partners had sought to raise US$200,000 (S$269, 458) in funding on Kickstarter in 2013, after its two-minute trailer went viral.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer was watched more than 10 million times and the Kickstarter has since raised a grand total of $630,000 (S$848,793).
Having reached his goal, Sandberg had promised to release the 30-minute movie online for free, The Huffington Post reported.
On YouTube, the short movie has already garnered 249,011 views as of Friday morning (May 29).
