Kate Bosworth, here for Audi Fashion Festival, says she embraces getting older

American actress and model Kate Bosworth, who is in Singapore to attend this evening's Oscar de la Renta fashion show at the Audi Fashion Festival, had back to back interviews with the media today.

But the actress, who shot to fame as a tanned surfer in the 2002 movie Blue Crush, was a perfect mix of charm and cool.

Dressed in a short, sleeveless beige dress, with bright orange lips providing the only pop of colour, she talked about her clean, minimal dressing and make-up style.

Bosworth, who is brand ambassador for skincare brand SK-II, said candidly: "I am pretty low-maintenance with make-up. I don't like wearing a lot of it."

Where dressing is concerned, she said comfort is key. "If you feel comfortable, you feel confident. I don't like things that are too tricky."

While most actresses tend to be touchy about their age, Bosworth was more than happy talking being 31 and what she called "the obsession with ageing".

She stressed the need to "embrace the change" in our bodies and regard "each day and each year in our life as a gift".

"I love being in my 30s. I feel I know myself well enough." She married American film director Michael Polish, 42, last year. The couple met on the set of the 2011 film Big Sur.

There is a wedding connection to her appearance here. Designer de la Renta, who is not in Singapore for his show, had designed two gowns for her wedding.

Tonight, she will wear one of his creations on the red carpet at the closing show for the Audi Fashion Festival, which began last Wednesday.

"I am so excited to be here," she said. "I love Oscar. His gowns for my wedding are a memory of my life I will cherish forever. He is a legend. He is a master of his craft. I am very happy to be wearing his designs tonight."
