Beijing - Actor Jaycee Chan is officially under arrest on suspicion of harbouring suspected drug users, said NetEase website today.

The People's Procuratorate of Beijing's Dongcheng district said on its official Weibo page today that it had approved the arrest and that the police would continue to investigate the case.

The report said the police asked for the procuratorate's approval of the arrest last Wednesday, and received it yesterday.

Chan, 31, has been in criminal detention since he was arrested at a foot spa last month with actor Kai Ko, 23, and both tested positive for marijuana use. More than 100g of cannabis was found in the apartment of Chan, the son of action superstar Jackie Chan.

Ko was in administrative detention of suspicion of using marijuana and freed after about two weeks. If found guilty, Jaycee Chan could be jailed up to three years, said NetEase.
