Beijing - Jackie Chan burst into tears at his 60th birthday dinner in Beijing on Monday, remembering how he missed his father's 60th birthday because of work.
The action superstar hosted a charity banquet at JW Marriot Hotel Beijing to celebrate his birthday, said NetEase website. About 100 guests attended the dinner, including stars such as actors Li Bingbing, Jiang Wen, Zhao Benshan and Ge You, as well as Super Junior singer Choi Si Won, said the report.
A total of about 70.6 million yuan (S$14.3 million) was raised and the proceeds will be donated to the China Film Foundation, said NetEase.
A video of Chan's father was played at the dinner, and when host Lu Yu asked the star how he celebrated his father's 60th birthday, he choked back the tears several times. He then said he was sorry he neglected his parents because he was busy. He said he was remorseful.
Actor Eric Tsang was the emcee of the night. He joked about how Chan is eating and ordering less food as he gets older, and becoming less wasteful.
