After Jaycee Chan, another famous son jailed for six months on a drug charge

BEIJING - Weeks after Jaycee Chan was jailed for six months on a drug charge, another actor's son also got a light sentence for providing a venue for drug users on Tuesday.

Chinese actor Zhang Mo, the 32-year-old son of prominent actor Zhang Guoli, was sentenced to six months in jail and fined 5,000 yuan (S$1,075) by the Haidian District People's Court, said NetEase website.

Zhang Mo, who was arrested for smoking marijuana in July last year, is likely to be set free on Thursday.

In China, jail sentences are counted from the day of the arrest, said NetEase.

Zhang pleaded guilty to making his home available to three marijuana users. In 2012, he had been detained for 13 days for smoking marijuana.

He is only one of the celebrities to have been detained on drug charges. Chan, son of kung fu star Jackie Chan, got six months and a 2,000 yuan fine for sheltering drug users. He was arrested in August last year and is likely to be released next month, before Chinese New Year.
