Sentosa's new $10 million multimedia show takes flight at Siloso Beach

Six weeks after Sentosa's signature multimedia show Songs Of The Sea ended its seven-year run, a new one called Wings Of Time swoops in to take its place.

Set against Siloso Beach, the $10-million Wings Of Time debuts on Tuesday (June 17) night.

It is about the adventures of two teenagers, Felix and Rachel, who help a bird-like creature named Shahbaz to find its way home.

The kelong backdrop of Songs Of The Sea has been replaced by a modern and angular structure that is 12m high and 40m wide for Wings Of Time.

The new show's creators hope the large set combined with the use of special effects such as robotic water fountains and pyrotechnics will provide a more immersive experience for the audience.

"It is immersion that makes the show a night-time spectacular, and not just another musical fountain or fireworks show with special effects," says Mr Jean-Christophe Canizares, ECA2's Chief Executive Officer. ECA2 is the French events company that developed Songs of the Sea and produced Wings of Time.

The new show is 25 minutes long and will run twice nightly, at 7.40 and 8.40pm. Each show can host up to 2,500 people, who can also look forward to an interactive pre-show segment, featuring a burlesque singing lesson led by the cast of the show.

Wings Of Time comes as part of Sentosa's on-going efforts to refresh its attractions.

"Sentosa's iconic night attractions have always been a key highlight of the island experience," says Mr Sam Lee, director of island business at Sentosa Leisure Management. "The stakes have gotten higher than ever today, as we see an increasingly well-travelled audience."

Tickets are priced at $23 for premium seats, while standard seats cost $18, and $15 for local residents.
