MARTHA@... THE 1963 INTERVIEW
This performance, part of the Singapore International Festival Of Arts, pays homage to the pioneering influence of the late Martha Graham on modern dance. Dancer Richard Move plays her on stage, recreating a fascinating real-life interview with critic Walter Terry (played by actress Lisa Kron).

GALA CONCERT
The Singapore Lyric Opera's annual gala night offers a programme of fan favourites, pleasing to both regular operagoers and newcomers curious about the art form. The Jewel Song from Gounod's Faust, Habanera from Bizet's Carmen and selections from Puccini's La Boheme will be performed by British-Sri Lankan soprano Kishani Jayasinghe and Filipino-American tenor Arthur Espiritu, joined in their Singapore debut by well-known local names Anna Koor and William Lim. The performance is accompanied by the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra and conducted by Joshua Kangming Tan.

BOOK LAUNCHES
Check out two exciting book launches tomorrow. Poet Marc Nair's Animal City, published by Red Wheelbarrow Books, contains zany rhymes illustrated by Vanessa Chan. Excerpts will be performed to music from his band Neon And Wonder at Aliwal Arts Centre.
Over at The Arts House, Straits Times digital sub-editor Chong Zi Liang (below left) and photographer Zakaria Zainal (below right) tell a little-known story in The Invisible Force: Singapore Gurkhas. These soldiers spend decades serving on the island, undergoing punishing training to win their fierce reputations, but are unable to remain in Singapore after retirement.
