Judd Apatow's four-hour Emmy-nominated documentary on the late Garry Shandling shows the comic to be a great friend and human being

Film-maker Judd Apatow has made a sprawling four-hour film about the late comedy icon Garry Shandling that is up for three Emmys next month, including Outstanding Documentary and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary.

And he thinks every minute of it is justified when it comes to telling the story of "one of the most important comedy minds of all time" - a man who was also his mentor, boss and friend.
