SINGAPORE - Miss Universe Singapore Rathi Menon has shared on social media a photograph of the national costume she will be wearing at the international Miss Universe pageant.

The gold skintight suit appears to be inspired by the five stars and crescent moon on Singapore's national flag, and is matched with gold thigh-high boots.

In one of the photos, she is carrying a large gold crescent moon on her back.

Venezuelan celebrity designer Alejandro Fajardo Diaz designed the costume, according to The New Paper.

Last year's Miss Universe Singapore costume, which had a large fan adorned with orchids, was designed by local fashion designer Riyan Haffys.

Miss Menon, 24, was crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2014 in August last year.

The 1.73m-tall beauty is a pharmaceutical technician at an animal hospital.

The pageant will be held in Florida on Sunday, Jan 25.
