SCO Music Oasis: A Music Tapestry Of East And West

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra will perform a programme of classical Western pieces, including Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances, Antonin Dvorak's Humoresque No. 7, Op. 101 and George Gershwin's Strike Up The Band. Blues music will also be featured with pieces from William Christopher Handy's St Louis Blues to Summer Palace, orchestrated by young local composer Phang Kok Jun.

Fun With Music! By The Philharmonic Winds

TV Exposure And Non-cognitive And Cognitive Development Of Children In China

Dr Yvonne Chen Jie, assistant professor at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at National University of Singapore, explores cable television exposure at community level for children between six and 10 years old. She finds strong evidence that early school age exposure to television negatively affects girls' mathematics test scores but not boys'. Further analysis indicates that television exposure positively affects boys' non-cognitive development.
