The history of Japanese tea ceremony dates back some 500 years. Mr Kobori Sojitsu, the 13th grand master of the Enshu-Ryu Sado School, demonstrates the art, traditions and rituals of its tea ceremony.

The history of Japanese tea ceremony dates back some 500 years and involves various traditional customs and rituals.

This tea school has its roots in the early Edo period during the 17th century, and was founded by Kobori Enshu, a feudal lord.

The grand master was in town recently for the official opening of the National University of Singapore's Japanese Studies Culture Room.
