SINGAPORE - (THE BUSINESS TIMES) Chef Drew Nocente introduces a new brunch service at the popular restaurant 5th Quarter. Held every Sunday, the vibe here is laid-back and casual, with the menu featuring dishes that are a mix of the chef's favourite comfort brunch fare.
There are 13 savoury items, and three desserts. With the exception of the oyster, brandade and caviar; clams, garlic and toast, and the grilled prawns with garlic and chilli, you can have unlimited helpings of everything on the menu.
The best way to enjoy the brunch is to order a portion of everything first. Dishes worth a second order include the smoked maple bacon and apple, the pork hash with poached egg, and the fried chicken and pancakes.
All three desserts are winners too - chocolate lollipops, banana and sesame cones and the pineapple, coconut and brittle.
The food gets served very quickly, sometimes a tad too quick. But it works great if you are the sort who just wants to sit back and chill, without having to get up every time to fill your plate.
Brunch wouldn't be complete without bubbly, so go on and indulge in some free-flow cava.
5th Quarter Cava Brunch is on every Sunday, from 11.30am to 4pm.
Priced at S$60++ per person, and additional S$45++ per person for free-flow cava.
5th Quarter is located at Hotel Vagabond, 39 Syed Alwi Road.
For reservations, call 6291 1936.
