SINGAPORE - That rich, buttery kueh lapis that melts in your mouth is equivalent to climbing 100 floors of an HDB block, according to a "fun" chart by Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Each slice is 157 calories, almost twice as much as the next most calorie-dense Chinese New Year goodie - the pineapple tart (82 calories).

Posted on the hospital's blog on Jan 30, the chart titled "Eating Wisely for Chinese New Year - Fun Stickers" has the calorie content and number of floors one has to climb to burn off the calories for eight popular snacks.

Each floor means 16 steps, or two flights of stairs in a HDB block, says a footnote.
