Health-conscious Straits Times readers turned up for free bowls of Panasonic's Veggie Life salad at Tampines Mall yesterday.

Even children, including five-year-old Toby (pictured), whose favourite vegetable is broccoli, waited in line patiently for a bowl of fresh greens.

He was accompanied by his IT director father Desmond Loy, 42, and sister Wenlin, 10.

Veggie Life is the electronics firm's new agricultural arm. The pesticide-free salad greens are grown locally.

A total of 500 packs of salad were distributed to those who like @StraitsTimesFood on Facebook.

Over at Bugis, readers young and old queued for 100 free bowls of bingsu at Korean shaved ice shop Ice Lab's Rochor Road outlet.

The treats are part of a series of food giveaways for the launch of ST's new food website, straitstimesfood.com.

Today, there will be a total of 500 packets of salted egg chips and fish skin from home-grown brand The Golden Duck.

These will be available from 11am at Raffles City Shopping Centre's basement, for those who like @StraitsTimesFood on Facebook.
