If you are tired of cookies, check out the festive flavours of Teochew confectionery Thye Moh Chan's tau sar piah. Like its classic ones, the longan tau sar piah (left) is made with mung bean paste and a flaky pastry, but with a dried longan filling - chosen because its name in Mandarin symbolises reunion. Other options include bak kwa and prune. They are priced at $16.80 for a box of nine pieces.

LAKSA COOKIES

PrimaDeli's popular Prima Taste Laksa paste is churned into cookies this Chinese New Year. The paste is made with dried shrimp, shallot, lemongrass and turmeric, among other ingredients. The fragrant cookies pack a spicy sambal punch and are made with coconut milk and fresh laksa leaves. They are priced at $18.80 a tin.

These cookies bring together the favourite dishes and flavours ofThe Quayside Group's general manager Robert Han - tom yam soup, lemongrass and cereal prawns. A throwback to the Chicken In A Biskit crackers from childhood days. Sweet meets savoury in this pineapple tart as deep-fried chicken skin is crushed and blended into an all-butter pastry with a special seasoning blend.
