The acclaimed Roca brothers from El Celler de Can Roca have returned to the No. 1 spot on The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2015 list, and last year's top restaurant, Noma, o Copenhagen, Denmark has slipped to No. 3.

El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, took top honours in 2013 and was ranked No. 2 on last year's list.

The three brothers behind the restaurant, Joan, Jordi and Josep Roca, received a standing ovation from the chefs gathered at London's Guildhall on June 1 for the 14th edition of the awards.

Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy moved up one spot to No. 2.

Rounding out the top five are Central (No. 4) in Lima, Peru, and New York's Eleven Madison Park (No. 5).

Asia's top restaurant is Narisawa in Tokyo, Japan, coming in at No. 8, a jump of six places, and Gaggan in Bangkok, Thailand, which topped the Asia's 50 Best list released earlier this year, jumps seven place in the World's list to No. 10.

Singapore's only restaurant on the top 50 list - Restaurant Andre - remained in the top 50, but slipped nine spots to No. 46. The other two Singapore restaurants are in the list ranking those 51st to 100th, which was released last week. Waku Ghin slipped 20 spots off the top 50 to No. 70, while French restaurant Jaan placed at No. 74.

Other accolades given out in the ceremony included World's Best Pastry Chef won by chef Albert Adria from Tickets (joint No. 42 with Chile's Borago), Chef's Choice Award to Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park, and Lifetime Achievement Award to French chef Daniel Boulud.

The World's 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, is organised by William Reed Media.

The upcoming Latin America's list will be held in Mexico on Sept 23, moving from its previous host city in Lima.

This is also the last year of the awards being held in London. Mr William Drew, group editor of The World's 50 Best Restaurants, announced its move to New York next year.
