Celebrity chef Tetsuya Wakuda will be given the Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award, as part of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Awards organised by William Reed Business Media.
The Japan-born Australian is the head chef of fine-dining restaurants Waku Ghin in Marina Bay Sands and Tetsuya's in Sydney, Australia.
Chef Wakuda, 55, said: "I feel fortunate to be a part of this industry. I have learned from, and been inspired by, all the chefs and friends I have had the pleasure of knowing over the years. To receive this acknowledgement from an esteemed panel of industry experts is so humbling."
He is known for injecting French cooking techniques and ingredients into contemporary Japanese cuisine.
Mr William Drew, Group Editor of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, said: "Chef Wakuda's genius lies in the deep sophistication but apparent simplicity of his cuisine. His understanding of what makes each ingredient shine is inspirational."
A former traditional Japanese chef, Mr Wakuda left for Australia in 1982 and worked in eateries such as the iconic Kinsela's in Sydney. He opened Tetsuya's in 1989 and the restaurant has regularly appeared in The World's 50 Best Restaurants list from 2002 to 2010.
The Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award is voted on by more than 300 culinary industry experts, including chefs, restaurateurs and food critics throughout Asia.
Mr Wakuda will receive his award next month at the event to present Asia's 50 Best Restaurants. It will be held on March 9 at Capella Singapore. The list is an offshoot of The World's 50 Best Restaurants.
