Style news: Spa before you fly

Spa before you fly

There is now more reason for passengers to arrive early at the airport before they fly.

The Shilla Duty Free Singapore has launched the Shilla Beauty Loft, the world's first duty-free luxury beauty spa concept, at Changi Airport's Terminal 3.

Tucked above the Shilla Cosmetics & Perfumes section, the loft is open from 6 to 1am daily and features four luxury brands - Dior, La Prairie, SK-II and Chanel. Besides facials, each beauty spa stocks skincare and cosmetics. Here is what to look out for at each boutique:

• Dior Beauty House - Free express makeover, flash facial, a quick hand or back massage, with any purchase. The brand's limited-edition cosmetics and premium range of scents, Dior La Collection Privee, are also available.

• Luxury Skincare Bar by La Prairie - Four kinds of flash facials that last up to 20 minutes. By invite only, e-mail beautylounge.singapore@laprairie.com.

• SK-II Pitera Lounge - Express and complete facials from $30. E-mail reservations_changispa@skii.com.sg to book.

• Chanel - Customised skincare and make-up services. By invite only.

This pair of pants features prints designed by Anya Lim of the Philippines. -- PHOTO: MATTER

Matter's new collection

Home-grown fashion label Matter's new collection, Then&There, was done in collaboration with designers from the region - Yah Leng Yu of branding agency Foreign Policy Design, Singapore; Nitya Amarnath of textile and print design company Botto Studio, India; Anya Lim of Anthill Fabric Gallery, the Philippines; and Joseph Lim and Bai Soemarlono of fashion and design label Populo Batik, Indonesia.

Each designed a print that depicts the story of his home country. For example, Lim reinterpreted the Philippine flag with carvings found on the Kulintang gong, a traditional music instrument, while Yu designed an abstract print based on Singapore's melting pot of cultures and its development from a tiny port city to a bustling global city.

The prints are featured on four styles of pants in materials such as cotton linen, silk and khadi twill. There is also a matching set of silk cotton-blend scarves.

Prices range from $179 to $279.

A range of knick-knacks and mementos such as colourful bracelets from India and fabric pouches will be given free at physical stores, while stocks last

The Then&There collection is available at www.matterprints.com as well as the following retailers: 01-05 Kapok at NDC, National Design Centre; Keepers, 230 Orchard Road; Tangs Singapore, 310 Orchard Road; and 02-20E Curator's Den, Great World City, 1 Kim Seng Promenade.

Correction note: An earlier version of this story did not mention that a range of knick-knacks and mementos from India, from fashion label Matter, would only be given out at physical stores. We are sorry for the omission.
