BEAUTY ALCHEMY

Fancy skin-balancing and rejuvenating precious molten metals in your skincare?

German beauty brand Julisis - which taps on ancient alchemy to formulate its range of gold, silver, copper and platinum-infused skincare products - is now available at the Beauty-i pop-up store (B1-25/26 Scotts Square, tel: 9234-3940). Its celebrity fans include the Jolie-Pitts, Madonna and Heidi Klum.

The brand was founded in 2003 by Mr Julius Eulberg, who was tired of products filled with synthetic chemicals that do not work for his skin. Its products are manufactured in alchemy labs in Germany. Besides fermented precious metals - created in huge vats and stirred according to the cycles of the cosmos - the formulas are also made with medicinal plants, such as marigold and jojoba, and bee by-products such as propolis and bee pollen. These are sourced from a biodynamic farm near the Italian Alps. The brand's bestsellers include the Eyemulsion eye cream (above) and Gold Emulsion Day moisturiser.

Julisis products are free of synthetic chemicals and suitable for all skin types. Prices start at $152 for a bottle of gold and neroli-infused toner.

POPSTAR MAKE-UP

The upcoming celebrity make-up collections promise to be wearable yet glamorous.

Ellie Goulding x MAC

Pop star Ellie Goulding has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics for a limited-edition collection. The 14-piece range includes a gold and peach-toned eyeshadow palette (left) and a blush-bronzer. Prices start at $26 for a set of false lashes.

Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay

The result of hours of chats about make-up at musician Gwen Stefani's house, the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette ($85, below) is now available at Urban Decay and Sephora stores. Twelve of the 15 shades are new and fine-tuned to her liking, while three are Urban Decay classics. The palette is mostly made up of neutral and smoky shades.

NEW SKINCARE LINE

Luxury Japanese label Cle De Peau Beaute's new six-piece anti-ageing skincare line comprises two lotions, two emulsions and two creams for different skin types. All the products, such as the Protective Fortifying Cream (left), contain proprietary ingredients: Platinum Golden Silk - extracted from gold silk cocoons and said to prevent carbonylation, or the yellowing of skin; and the amino acid theanine, which can help prevent cellular stress that leads to skin ageing.

Made for women aged 25 and above, the formulas also contain chai hu herb extract, which is supposed to make skin resilient. Prices start from $180 for a bottle of lotion (below) and the products will be available at Cle de Peau Beaute counters from next month.
