Long bob is popular

TARAJI P. HENSON

The 45-year-old singer-actress, who stars in television series Empire, attended the Emmys sporting a concave, long bob - a style that is shorter at the back and longer towards the front. Her hair was also straightened and parted in the centre.

This style is quite popular, says Ms Jennie Sng of Kim Robinson. "I have a lot of clients who ask for a long bob or a lob, whose length can reach the collarbone."

The centre parting allows the hair to frame Henson's face, giving her strong cheeks and jawline a softer look.

Centre partings are better suited to those with shorter faces as they expose the forehead, which helps elongate the face.

To get the look, ask for a graduated long bob. The front should end at the collarbone while the back should be just below the base of the head.

How to style the look:

1. Apply a heat-protecting spray to freshly washed hair.

2. Part the hair in the middle and use a flat iron to straighten the hair.

3. For those with thinner hair, tease the hair slightly at the top to give it a bit more volume so that it does not look too flat.

4. Complete the look with a straight finishing spray to keep hair sleek and smooth.
