MY BAG

See what's in It girl Alexa Chung's bag

British It girl Alexa Chung describes her personality as "every shade of the rainbow of nightmare".

"I'm someone who is obsessed with making puns, preoccupied by visuals, hopefully funny and silly, but also serious when it comes to work. Diligent, loyal, irritable... there're so many," says the 32-year-old.

While she may see herself as a "nightmare", she is very much sought after by fashion designers and boasts 2.3 million Instagram followers.

  • ON HER BAG

  • This Le Pliage Heritage bag is from Longchamp's Autumn 2016 collection. It was given to me by Ms Sophie Delafontaine, the brand's artistic director. It's chic and I love it.

  • Things in her bag

  • MOLESKINE NOTEBOOK

This was given to me by a fan about two months ago. I use it as a journal and create collages in it.

    KONTAX FILM CAMERA

I've had this camera for about four months, but I've been using Kontax film cameras for about 10 years. I just think film photos look cooler.

    GLOSSIER LIPSTICK

Ms Emily Weiss, founder of American beauty brand Glossier and website Into The Gloss, sent this to me about two months ago and I just had it in my bag.

    CONTACT LENSES

I've been wearing contact lenses for 15 years. I never wear glasses because I feel like a dork in them.

    HOUSE KEYS
This is for my apartment in New York City. I do have nice key chains but I tend to forget my keys, hence I made a necklace so that I'd remember them. It just got shorter over the years and now it doesn't fit over my head.

    RAY-BAN SUNGLASSES

I can't remember when I got this pair, but I've had this style for many years. This was given to me by the brand.

    STILA BLUSH IN SHADE PEONY

I've been using this brand for about 10 years, but I do use blushes from British make-up brand and artist Charlotte Tilbury. I prefer a cream blusher to a powdered one because of the dewy finish.

Fashion brands such as New Look and DKNY Jeans and shoe brand Superga are just some of the brands that Chung has lent her face and name to.

Earlier this year, she launched a clothing collection with British department store Marks & Spencer and was announced as the new face of California-based brand AG Jeans, replacing Ukrainian-Canadian model Daria Werbowy.

Chung, who has been the ambassador for French luxury brand Longchamp for the past five seasons, was in town last month for the opening of the brand's new boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Born in Privett, Hampshire in England to a Chinese-English father and English mother, she started modelling for teen magazines at 16. She first made her mark as a television host in 2006 in music and pop-culture show Popworld on Channel 4, a British television network.

She moved to New York City in 2009 to host It's On With Alexa Chung for MTV. Although the show was cancelled before the end of the year, Chung continued living in New York as it was "centrally located" for her regular travels to Los Angeles, Paris and London for work and leisure.

Apart from hosting and modelling, she was also a weekly columnist for British newspaper The Independent and is a contributing editor at British Vogue.

She is dating Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard, 39.

"I have many jobs and I've been to many places. I'm very happy doing all of that," she says. "It's not typical, but it's still enjoyable to me."

Although she regularly appears on best-dressed lists, occupies front-row seats at fashion shows and is invited to high-profile events such as the Met Gala, she is not beyond committing fashion faux pas, such as sporting visible panty lines.

She says candidly: "I've just never thought about it, and then suddenly I saw other people's bums and I'm like, whoa, they need to sort their knickers out.

"Then it dawned on me. I'm sure my bum has looked really weird in trousers."

Her down-to-earth nature is apparent as she makes funny faces and speaks in accents for comedic effect during the interview when she is describing her looks.

The lanky Chung, who has two older brothers and a sister, says: "No one was ever like, wow, stunning - no one in my family or village. Of course, my mum would say, 'I think you look pretty' but all mums would think their daughters look pretty, so I don't know."
