Hits and misses on the red carpet

Taylor Swift lost out in the style stakes.

Her new Anna Wintour- like bob looked at odds with her Day-Glo outfit. It also seemed like she had come from a Barbie- themed pool party, grabbing a hot-pink skirt along the way to hide her bikini bottom. Sure, it showed off her toned body, but there are more chic ways to flaunt what you have got.

Likewise for her BFF Selena Gomez. The cut of her dress worked, but the sequinned look made it seem like a costume out of the 1980s television series Dynasty.

C stands for Ciara and, in this case, also Crass. The singer left little to the imagination - she turned up looking dangerously near-naked in a sliver of a dress, held together by a flimsy- looking ribbon.

Unlike the other stars on the red carpet who flashed their undies, Lady Gaga did not offend with her thigh-high split outfit that paid homage to the late singer David Bowie. Everything looked right together - from her electric-blue bejewelled dress to the sparkly bodysuit she wore underneath to her flaming orange hair and red platform heels.

Singer John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen were the best dressed couple of the night. Always dapper, Legend did not disappoint in his black Gucci tuxedo that featured a bee- emblazoned jacket. But he was outshone by his model- wife, who dressed her bump in true style. Teigen, who is expecting the couple's first child, looked stunning in a fitted white Yousef Al-Jasmi gown and crystal- encrusted cape.
