Hollywood stars graced the red carpet at the 88th Academy Awards that took place on Feb 29. Here are 12 of the best and worst dressed of the night.
Best dressed
1. Alicia Vikander
The 27-year-old Swedish beauty, who won the Best Supporting Actress award in Danish Girl, is a breath of fresh air in a yellow Louis Vuitton gown. The silver embellishments and bubble hem add an interesting and youthful vibe to her look.
2. Brie Larson
Despite being "incredibly jetlagged" after getting off a plane from Vietnam, the 26-year-old looked radiant in a cobalt blue gown with vertical ruffles on the skirt. She is up for a Best Actress In A Leading Role for playing a kidnapped mother in Room.
3. Saoirse Ronan
The 21-year old actress looked grown-up in a custom sequin dress with plunging neckline by Calvin Klein, paying homage to her Irish heritage with the dark green dress. She is up against Brie Larson and Cate Blanchett for a Best Actress In A Leading Role.
4. Priyanka Chopra
The 33-year-old star of the TV series Quantico exuded sexiness in a white Zuhair Murad dress with a sheer skirt. She presented the Best Film Editing award with American actor Liev Schreiber.
5. Cate Blanchett
The 46-year-old seven-time Academy Awards nominee never fails to impress on the red carpet. She cut a fine figure with her Armani Prive seafoam gown embellished with matching flowers, the colour of which complemented her blond hair.
6. Sylvester Stallone
The handsome 69-year old, who is nominated for a Best Supporting Actor for his role in Creed, looked dashing in a black and blue tux. He was accompanied by his wife Jennifer Flavin, who was dressed in a simple black slip dress. This is one rare instance where the husband outshone his wife.
7. Lady Gaga
Now that the Born This Way singer is an actress (she has a role in television series American Horror Story), her outlandish outfits seem to be a thing of the past. Not that it is a bad thing - the 29-year-old looks showstopping in a custom-made structural white jumpsuit with matching train by longtime friend and ex-stylist Brandon Maxwell. We liked how she let her oufit speak for itself and held back on the accessories.
8. Tina Fey
One of America's favourite comedian and host should stop making self-deprecating jokes about her looks now - the 45-year-old looked better than ever. Her deep blue bustier dress showed off her trim figure, and her up-do and matching necklace completed her elegant look.
Worst dressed
9. Naomi Watts
We are not sure where to look. The 47-year-old's incredibly sparkly dress took the attention away from her breathtaking necklace. What a pity this actress does not understand the power of restraint.
10. Heidi Klum
Trust the 42-year-old model to turn up in a dress that tried to be too many things at once. It was overkill: the fluffiness of the tulle gown, the long shapeless sleeve, the corsage-like flowers at the shoulder and waist and peekaboo detail at the bust. She should fire her stylist, if she has one.
11. Kevin Hart (with partner Eniko Parrish)
There is only one word to describe the 36-year-old's bedazzled suit: No.
12. Sophie Turner
The 20-year-old Games of Thrones actress was way too underdressed in a silver dress that was more bridesmaid than Oscar red carpet worthy.
