Vin Diesel says Furious 8 will roar into cinemas in April 2017

Las Vegas - Actor Vin Diesel confirmed during CinemaCon on Thursday that the next installment of The Fast And The Furious franchise, Furious 8, is in the works and will premiere in April 2017.

Furious 8 will be the first complete film without the late Paul Walker.

USA Today reports that an "emotional" Diesel cited his co-star and close friend Walker when making the announcement at the major gathering of theatre owners in the United States. Walker died in a car accident in November 2013.

Diesel was quoted as saying: "I swear to you and I swear to my brother upstairs we're going to make the best movie you've ever seen." He also noted that the last time he was at the Las Vegas exhibition, he had attended it with Walker.

Apart from this, he did not reveal further information about the sequel.

Furious 7, which was released on April 3, raked in over US$1 billion (S$1.34 billion) worldwide after a mere 17 days in cinemas, making it the fastest movie to do so.
