Thriller Overheard 3 grabs leading 11 nominations for Hong Kong Film Awards

HONG KONG - Thriller Overheard 3 has led nominations for the Hong Kong Film Awards with 11 nods including for Best Film, in nominations announced today.

The crime drama earned a Best Actor nod for Sean Lau Ching Wan, who is also named in the same category for his other film, Insanity.

He won the award in 2007 for My Name Is Fame.

Both Kenneth Tsang and Alex Fong, who also acted in Overheard 3, compete in the Best Supporting Actor category.

The film is nominated for Best Film along with Ann Hui's period drama The Golden Era, which earned a runner-up 10 nominations.

The film's star Tang Wei was named for Best Actress honours, vying for the title with Charlene Choi (Sara), Sandra Ng (Golden Chickensss), Vicki Zhao (Dearest) and Zhou Xun (Women Who Flirt).

It will be Tang's fourth stab at the award.

Other films in the Best Film category are Dearest, Aberdeen and The Midnight After.

Overheard 3 is also nominated in the categories of Best Director for Alan Mak and Felix Cheong, Screenplay and Cinematography, as well as other technical awards.

Also vying for Best Actor are Daniel Wu (That Demon Within), Eddie Peng (Rise Of The Legend) and Huang Bo (Dearest).

Up for Best Director are Ann Hui, Peter Chan (Dearest), Fruit Chan (The Midnight After) and Dante Lam (That Demon Within).

The 34th Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony wil be held on April 19.
