SINGAPORE - The Little Nyonya is going global.

International content streaming giant Netflix on Wednesday (Dec 7) announced that it has acquired the rights to the international broadcast of more than 20 Chinese-language series from local broadcaster Mediacorp.

The titles to air from early next year include the popular 2008-9 Peranakan-themed drama The Little Nyonya, starring Jeanette Aw and Joanne Peh, and The Dream Job, this year's blockbuster drama starring Shaun Chen and Rebecca Lim.

Ms Jessica Lee, vice-president (communications) at Netflix Asia, says in a statement: "These popular local shows will now find new audiences all over the world."

Netflix says it has more than 86 million members in more than 190 countries around the world.
