LONDON - Pop star Taylor Swift is shaking off a break-up - and breaking the Internet - with a surprise romance with actor Tom Hiddleston.

On Wednesday (June 15), Britain's The Sun newspaper published photographs of the 26-year-old singer and the 35-year-old star of the Thor movies kissing and cuddling on a rocky beach on Rhode Island.

The report said the pictures were taken on Tuesday on the stretch of Misquamicut State Beach by her eight-bedroom mansion.

Swift's break-up with DJ Calvin Harris, 32, after 15 months, was reported on June 1. People magazine quoted a source as saying "things just don't work out sometimes. No one cheated".

The Sun, quoting a source, said Swift and Hiddleston hit it off at the Met Gala in New York on May 2, which she attended without Harris. The two were filmed dancing together.

Hiddleston was quoted by MTV as saying: "I sat next to her at dinner that night and she was very charming. She is amazing."

Fans have dubbed the couple #Hiddleswift on social media, with others feeling bad for Harris. The Guardian newspaper has called the romance "the equivalent of two Internet memes dating".
