TAIPEI • Musician David Tao and his former girlfriend's dispute over their relationship is turning into a mud fight.

Tao, 45, is threatening legal action against artist manager Yang Ziqing, who claims he tried to cheat on his wife with her after his wedding last year.

Yang, who is in her early 20s, has responded on Weibo: "I can afford a lawyer too."

Tao will hold a press conference in Taipei tomorrow and is expected to give evidence against Yang's claims, said China Times.

When Quan Min Xing Tan website first broke the story of his relationship with Yang last week, Tao described the romance as a thing of the past and denied having cheated on his wife.

But Yang has hit back at him with more claims.

Last Saturday, she said he contacted her after the scandal broke and asked to meet her in Beijing early this month.

She told the website: "I was with David Tao for six years. I see this person clearly. I don't want to have any contact with him."

Her age is reported as 23 by NetEase website. Baidu website has her birth year as 1993, which works out to an age of 22. If her claim is true, she would have been dating Tao since she was 16 or 17.

She also said it was "ridiculous" how he acknowledged her as a former girlfriend last week and wished her all the best, but threatened to sue her days later.
