Hong Kong Alan Tam has owned up.

Being 65 years old, that is. And not "forever 25" as the former The Wynners singer is famous for insisting.

Last Saturday, celebrating his birthday with family and friends, he stood before his birthday cake and struck a pose with hand gestures signalling the numerical digits "6" and "5".

It was a classic Wong Fei Hong pose by the star, who spoofed the gongfu legend in a 1992 movie, reported The Sun newspaper.

But on his Weibo, he wrote: "Happy having a big 25th birthday 'big family' party" and posted pictures of himself with friends including Natalis Chan, Eric Tsang and Cally Kwong at a Hong Kong resturant.

Tsang, known for boozing till late at parties, was the first to leave, apparently not having drunk a drop.

Tam, whose birthday fell on Sunday, recently said Tsang had gout but had recovered.
