TAIPEI - Legendary Taiwanese rock band Mayday played to a crowd of 35,000 to mark their 20th anniversary at a free concert in a park on Wednesday (March 29) night.

Fans were reportedly spotted queuing a week ago at Taipei's Daan Forest Park, which is the venue of the quintet's first major concert held on March 29 in 1997.

"Twenty years flew by so quickly, thank you for coming. We will continue singing ," says frontman Ashin, 41. He was joined onstage by members drummer Guan You, bassist Masa, guitarists Stone and Monster.

Concertgoers were treated to rousing hits such as Loneliness Terminator (2012) and People Life, Ocean Wild (2010).

Mandopop's biggest band has a track record of selling out concerts across Asia, including Singapore. Last year, the A-list act performed to a full-house for two nights at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The band repeated the feat when all 20,000 tickets of two upcoming shows in December were snapped up earlier this month.

This prompted local concert organiser One Production to announce an additional show to be held on Dec 17 at Indoor Stadium. Tickets will go on sale on April 1 at 10am through Sports Hub Tix Ticketing channels.
