SINGAPORE - Some big names are in town for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix - including pop star Ariana Grande, American pop rock band OneRepublic and evergreen English band Duran Duran.

Here is a look at what some of them - as well as the race drivers themselves - got up to while in Singapore.

1. OneRepublic goes chicken rice hunting

OneRepublic on Friday (Sept 15) night tweeted a photo of lead singer Ryan Tedder, 38, saying the band was "hunting for the cheapest Michelin Star restaurant in the world for some chicken rice".

"It was amazing," he wrote. "We love it here, thus we keep coming back."

He was referring to the Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle restaurant at Chinatown Food Complex.

Soya chicken rice goes for $2, while noodles cost 50 cents more, and a whole chicken costs $14.

She added heart emojis to a shot of the trees lit up in pink and purple lights. She watched the light show 46 times, she wrote.

3. Duran Duran visits Chinatown

Members from British 1980s pop band Duran Duran also visited Chinatown - Duran Duran posted a photo of drummer Roger Taylor, 57, and bass guitarist John Taylor, 57, down the lanterned street on its Instagram page on Friday.

The group also posted a photo of a page from The Straits Times Life, headlined: "The biggest names at the F1 stage this year".

"Get Ready, Singapore," it wrote.

4. Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo try durian

Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen tried XXO D24 durians during a feast and media session at the Monti at 1-Pavilion on Wednesday (Sept 13) night.

They did not like it very much - with 19-year-old Verstappen saying it "tastes like puke".

Ricciardo, 28, said the texture was weird and reminded him of "big foot's d***."

5. Swedish driver Marcus Ericsson beats Singapore heat with ice bath

Swedish Formula One driver Marcus Ericsson of Sauber Ferrari cooled down in an ice bath after a running session.

The Sauber F1 team tweeted a photo of the 27-year-old in a white bath tub filled with ice.

Ericsson retweeted the photo, adding: "Keeping cool in the Singapore heat."

Verstappen also found it hot, sharing a photo on Instagram of himself against a backdrop of the Singapore Flyer, writing: "High temperatures around here! I'm ready for the #SingaporeGP challenge. #keeppushing #unleashthelion".
