After nine years together, Timbre's resident band Goodfellas are calling it a day. The six-piece band, known for their lively covers of anything from pop to indie to Motown music and their rapport with their loyal fans, will play their final few gigs this weekend before their last show on New Year's Eve.

2 Say bye to koalas

The Singapore Zoo is throwing a farewell party this weekend for the four koalas who are going back Down Under next month. Nicknamed Cantik, Sayang, Nila and Manja, they have been here since April. 4 Fish for charity

Fish For Food is a fundraiser organised by the Singapore Red Cross. Each "fishing ticket" costs $100,which goes towards Singapore Red Cross Foodaid beneficiaries. Anglers can also choose to donate their catch. There will be lucky draws and colouring activities for children.

6 Ride Downtown Line 2 for free

The second phase of the Downtown Line, comprising 12 stations running through areas such as Beauty World and Sixth Avenue, opens on Sunday. The line gives easier access to places such as DairyFarm Nature Park and Lasalle College of the Arts.

7 Catch free music performances in the city

Music fans are in for a treat this weekend. At the National Gallery Singapore, enjoy Christmas classics by flute quartet A Flutey Affair today, hits from musicals such as Les Miserables by home-grown wind quintet Kreutzer Ensemble tomorrow and classical music by a trio made up of flautist Tan Kian Joo, violinist Cheryl Ho and cellist Ophelia Toh on Sunday.

The Esplanade presents music of various genres alongside craft activities as part of its Celebrate December season. Catch groups such as Singapore clarinet ensemble CLARQuinet, Singapore bhangra group SherePunjab Bhangra and Indonesian angklung troupe Sahabat Angklung.

8 Visit Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

The national monument opens its doors today for those keen to check out the historic building. Train services to the station, which used to be the terminus of the railway line, ended in 2011.

While the railway station is open during public holidays, this time, the public are encouraged to commemorate the building through photos and sketches. Drawings can be dropped off at the former ticketing counter of the station, where they may be displayed at the next opening of the station.

9 Check out new Kafe

Kult Kafe at Emily Hill is the newest bar and event space in town, an offshoot of the edgy art gallery Kult.

10 Celebrate with Straits Records

Show some love to alternative record store Straits Records in Bali Lane, which celebrates its 20th anniversary with a festival. The third edition of the Making Waves festival features performances by home-grown bands such as punk rock group Iman's League and skapunk veterans Cesspit.
