USA (REUTERS) - It's the moment Marvel Comics fans have been waiting for - Spider-Man swinging his way into The Avengers franchise.

The character appears as the last shot in the new Captain America: Civil War trailer and introduces Tom Holland as the new web-slinging, wall-crawling superhero.

Although Sony officially own the rights to the character, Marvel Studios came to an agreement last year for Peter Parker's alter ego to be used as part of the larger Marvel Comics Universe, owned by Disney. There has been no agreement yet to integrate the popular X-Men characters, owned by 20th Century Fox, into the fold, despite a number of them appearing in the pages of the Avengers comic books.

In the trailer, Spider-Man appears to take Iron Man's side in the upcoming Civil War, which will see Tony Stark go head to head with his fellow Avenger Captain America.

The trailer also contains appearances by new Avenger Black Panther as well as the return of recently added characters including Scarlet Witch, Vision and Ant-Man.

Captain America: Civil War goes on release worldwide from the end of April.
