TAIPEI - The estranged husband of S.H.E member Selina Jen said he would sue if rumours linking him to a 22-year-old model got out of hand.
Lawyer Richard Chang's comment came early today, amid swirling rumours about what went wrong with Jen's marriage, following the couple's shock announcement of their split on Facebook last Friday night.
"Don't incriminate me," Chang was quoted as saying in an Apple Daily report, about an allegation that he and Jessie Zhuo, a trade show model and recent Taiwan university graduate, are acquainted, and that there had been campus talk about them last year. "I will sue if it becomes too much."
In separate Facebook posts, Chang, 43, and Jen, 34, had blamed themselves for the break-up of their almost five-year marriage.
Theirs was seen as a model marriage especially as Chang had stood by her side after she was severely burnt in a film set incident in 2010.
Jen, who got married and returned to show business after hospitalisation and rehabilitation, said she had not been a good wife as she had been focused on work after marriage.
She also said she had changed following marriage, but stressed the kinship and friendship between them as a result of knowing each other for nine years.
Chang echoed that, saying he now has a sister in Jen, adding, "Don't feel sorry for us. We're happier as siblings".
Jen's record company last Saturday had also come out to deny media speculation, saying that there was no third party and the split had nothing to do with the couple's childlessness nor tension between Chang and Jen's family as well as S.H.E members Hebe Tien and Ella Chen.
Apple, however, said Chang was photographed last March with a curvaceous young woman and a man late night at a karaoke lounge.
At that time, he said he was no saint and would eat, drink and sing like other people.
Over the weekend, Zhuo also denied on Instagram and to ETtoday that she knew Chang. They met only once, at a campus gathering, her agent reportedly said.
Apple said Chang moved out of the couple's marital home last month. Their divorce proceedings are not yet completed.
