Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's (pictured) films from his production house, including his latest release, Dear Zindagi, is expected to be available on global streaming service Netflix from early next year.
The streaming giant announced the deal with Red Chillies Entertainment - started in 2002 by the actor and his wife, Gauri Khan - on Thursday.
It will see Netflix's base of 86 million global users getting video-on- demand access to his film releases over the next three years, as well as his past catalogue of films under the Red Chillies banner, such as Dilwale (2015) and Om Shanti Om (2007).
It is Netflix's first tie-up with an Indian film production company.
It comes a day after competitor Amazon Prime went live in India. Amazon has content deals with major Bollywood studios such as Dharma Productions and T-Series. So Khan's box-office hits released under the likes of Dharma Productions, Yash Raj Films or Excel Entertainment will not be available.
Khan has starred in dozens of Bollywood blockbusters and is adored by millions of fans around the world.
"Shah Rukh Khan is the most sought-after actor in the Indian film industry and has played a huge role in bringing Indian cinema to the world stage," said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos.
"His monicker, 'King Khan', speaks to his status as a cultural icon and to the incredible popularity of his films among audiences worldwide."
