Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and Awkwafina are reported to have joined the cast of all female heist movie, Ocean's 8.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rihanna is among the latest big names being linked to a female driven spin-off of the Ocean's Eleven heist franchise.

According to Hollywood trade publications, a number of other big name actors are also in talks for key roles in the project that is currently being referred to as Ocean's Ocho, which is Spanish for Ocean's Eight.

Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, who last appeared together in Disney's Alice Through The Looking Glass earlier this year, are reportedly both in line for roles joining Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

Also rumoured to be up for a part in the film is Nora Lum, a comedian, rapper and actress, otherwise known as Awkwafina.

News of the film comes a month after the release of the all-female remake of the 1980s action comedy Ghostbusters, this time starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig.

That film went on to earn generally warm reviews and has taken more than $180 million (S$242 million) at the worldwide box office.
