SINGAPORE - Where there is smoke, there is no Spring.

Due to the "worsening and persistent haze situation", Friendly Dog Entertainment, the organiser of music festival Spring Wave 2015, announced in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 29) that the outdoor event planned for Fort Canning Green on Oct 10 will be cancelled.

In an update at 2pm, the National Environment Agency said the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index for the next 12 hours is expected to be in the low to mid sections of the very unhealthy range.

In coming to a decision, the health and safety of concertgoers, artists including rockers Luantan-Ascent, Wu Bai and Chang Chen-yue, partners and staff was of the "utmost priority", said the organiser.

Those who have purchased tickets for Spring Wave 2015 can contact ticketing agents such as Sistic for refund policies.

The organiser had tried to look for an alternative venue but was unable to find a suitable indoor location.

Mr Shen Kuang-yuan, founder of Friendly Dog, added in the statement: "While we recognise and appreciate all the work that has gone to the preparations in organising the festival, we knew that this decision will disappoint fans, but hope that they can appreciate the decision we have to make."
