HONG KONG • Former TVB star Myolie Wu and businessman Philip Lee married amid razzmatazz on Monday, after falling in love at first sight and dating for a year.
In the morning, he and his 23 groomsmen pulled up at her apartment in nine cars, including a Ferrari, a BMW, a Porsche and two Rolls-Royces, said Apple Daily.
Her 11 bridesmaids, including actresses Nancy Wu, Elaine Yiu and Selena Li, did not hold up the ceremony by making things too difficult for the band of brothers.
After reading aloud a declaration of love, the groom was allowed to pick up the bride, who wore a two-piece Chinese wedding dress with 3D embroidered dragons and phoenixes. The dress is worth more than HK$200,000 (S$36,380), said the report.
In the afternoon, the couple - she in a fishtail dress and he in a white suit - took their wedding vows in a civil ceremony at Beas River Country Club, said Ming Pao Daily News.
A banquet at The Ritz-Carlton followed, with more than 100 of the bride's friends in attendance.
Wu, 36, was once one-half of a TVB celebrity couple. Her eight- year romance with actor Bosco Wong, now 35, ended in 2012.
In January, she confirmed her relationship with Lee, who is in his 40s. According to Apple Daily, he worked in finance in London before returning to Hong Kong, where he owns a headhunting company and has invested in a Lan Kwai Fong club. He also had a reputation as a beauty queen-killer, having been linked to Miss Hong Kong contestant Selena Li and Miss Chinese International winner Kelly Cheung.
Wu, a former Miss Hong Kong second runner-up, has shared her love story. On a talk show in August, she said Lee saw her bikini picture on social media last year and asked a mutual friend to introduce them. Wu said no, but a few months later, the friend secretly asked Lee to join them for a meal.
She said: "I looked up, he came in... this can be considered love at first sight."
