LOS ANGELES • Transformers star Megan Fox has filed for divorce from actor Brian Austin Green after five years of marriage, a Los Angeles court spokesman said.

The filing last Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. It came after media reports last week that the couple had separated.

In 2008, she was named the world's sexiest woman in a poll by the magazine FHM.

She has said she met Green, who appeared in the 1990s television show Beverly Hills, 90210, when she was 18 and he was 30.

They went on to date for years and married in 2010.

Fox, 29, has requested joint physical and legal custody of their sons Noah, two, and Bodhi, 18 months, it was reported.

Green, 42, also has a 13-year-old son from a previous relationship.

The date of the separation is listed as June 15, said E! Online. But they decided to split six months ago, a source told Us Weekly last week.

A source told the magazine recently: "They fight about her career. He would prefer she focus on the family more than being obsessed with getting roles."
