Korea's GOT7 is the world's most talked about pop group on Twitter after One Direction

SEOUL (THE KOREA HERALD/ASIAN NEWS NETWORK) - K-pop boyband GOT7 had the most chatter in Twitter's South Korean music section this year, with their name as the top keyword according to data released by Twitter Korea on Wednesday (Dec 9).

The group also took the second spot in Twitter's global music section for the year, behind only British boyband One Direction. Korean groups EXO, BTS and BigBang were ranked fourth, sixth and 10th respectively.

GOT7 held a real-time question and answer on Twitter Korea on Oct 5 in an endeavour to communicate with fans as much as possible. During the event, 7.8 million tweets went out, the highest total since Twitter Korea launched such events.

Meanwhile, BTS' tweet had the most retweets. It was a photo that the group uploaded after receiving a prize in the dance category at the MelOn Music Awards on Nov 7, and which had 29 million views.
