Kim Soo Hyun tells fans at Singapore event to lighten up and have fun

Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun, 26, made a confession tonight that he lied to fans.

Addressing the 2,800-strong crowd at his fan meet here on Sunday, he said: "For the first time in my life, I've lied to my fans."

But it was not anything serious. The actor was simply referring to the fact that he created outlandish captions for photos, such as how he drilled a hole in a frozen lake to catch fish, which were shown at the fan meet.

At the event held at Singapore Expo, the boyish actor was all smiles despite earlier annoucing the cancellation of a press conference out of respect to the Sewol ferry sinking tragedy.

There were also previous reports that the atmosphere was sombre at his appearances and fan meets in other countries, which were part of the 2014 Kim Soo Hyun Asia Tour 1st Memories.

Kim, the It K-pop star of the moment, achieved superstar status after starring in the hit drama My Love From The Star as a 400- year-old alien Professor Do Min Joon.

He sat down to chat with fans about his past works, including the dramas Dream High and Moon Embracing the Sun and the movies Secretly, Greatly and The Thieves.

He serenaded fans with ballads, and posed for photos with lucky fans randomly picked to go onstage.

Looking dapper in a black suit, the spontaneous Kim even urged fans to lighten up at the start of the two-hour fan meet.

He said: "I feel like I'm in a school seeing you guys sitting there, your expressions are a little too serious. You look like I'm going to teach you something. I don't want it to be so serious."
