PARIS (Reuters) - Masked men robbed US reality TV star Kim Kardashian West at gunpoint in a luxury residence in Paris early on Monday (Oct 3), stealing millions of dollars of jewellery, police and her publicist said.

Five attackers struck around 3am local time (9am Singapore time) inside the block used by celebrities and wealthy individuals behind the city's Madeleine church, a police source told Reuters.

Kardashian's spokesman Ina Treciokas told CNN: "Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers."

"She is badly shaken but physically unharmed."

The jewellery stolen - which included a 3.5 million-pound (S$6.2 million) ring, diamond grillz, and sentimental necklaces designed by Kardashian's husband Kanye West - was worth an estimated 8.5 million pounds, according to The Daily Mail.

Police reportedly said the robbers had tied Kardashian up and locked her in a bathroom before fleeing on bicycles.

The 35-year-old American TV reality star has been in Paris for the last week for Fashion Week. Her children, North, three and Saint, nine months old, were not involved in the incident, according to People magazine.

Rapper West abruptly ended a performance in New York less than an hour into his set, as news of the robbery spread.

"I'm sorry I have a family emergency, I have to stop the show," West said in video footage posted on Twitter by fans at the Meadows Festival in the city's borough of Queens.

"Due to a family emergency, Kanye West was forced to end his performance towards the end of his set. We appreciate the great show he put on for fans to close out the inaugural Meadows Festival," the festival said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with West and his family."

Kardashian has been a fixture at Paris Fashion Week, which was being held in recent days. She has stayed in the residence at least once before, in 2014, before her marriage to West. Police were guarding the site on Monday morning.

Just a few hours before the traumatic incident, she attended the Givenchy runway show.

Earlier in the day, she also posted a picture of her outfit to Instagram with the caption "Details". She wore an off-the-shoulder Balenciaga trench and thigh-high black and white Balenciaga boots while sitting front row for the designer's Spring 2017 collection.

She then stepped out with sister Kourtney for a dinner hosted by designer Azzedine Alaia, reported People magazine. Based on her Snapchat, she was back at her hotel room by 8.30pm (US time) on Sunday and Facetiming with brother Rob Kardashian and his fiancée Blac Chyna to wish them congratulations at their baby shower, the magazine added.

It has been an eventful week for Kardashian. On Wednesday, she was rushed by prankster, Vitalii Sediuk, who tried to kiss her famous rear end. Her bodyguard immediately took Sediuk, who has pranked celebrities like Will Smith and Gigi Hadid, away.
