SEOUL - K-drama superstar Bae Yong Joon married singer Park Soo Jin on Monday (July 27), said South Korean reports.
Bae, 42, shared a photo of himself kneeling in front of his 29-year-old bride on Instagram, hours before the couple's 6pm nuptials at Sheraton Grande Walkerhill hotel in Seoul, said Yonhap News Agency and Korea Herald.
"I'm on my way to the venue of the wedding ceremony. I'm nervous and thrilled," he wrote. "Sorry for being unable to be with you."
The ceremony was open to relatives and close friends only, said Yonhap. Keyeast, the couple's agency, said JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin Young was among the singers who performed at the wedding. The couple will go on their honeymoon at a resort on the south coast of South Korea.
Bae is the one of the biggest stars of the Korean Wave, especially in Japan. He acted in 2002's Winter Sonata and 2001's Hotelier, which featured Sheraton Grande Walkerhill.
On Monday, hundreds of his Japanese fans braved the rain to wait along the road leading to the hotel and around the wedding hall, said Yonhap.
"We understand that many of Bae's Japanese fans arrived in South Korea to see the wedding from a week ago," a Keyeast official was quoted as telling the agency. "We heard that rooms of the hotel were fully reserved because of that."
