Jack White's keyboardist, 'Ikey' Owens, dies in Mexico

PUEBLA, Mexico (AFP) - Isaiah "Ikey" Owens, who played keyboard in US rocker Jack White's band, was found dead in his hotel room on Tuesday during a tour in Mexico, police said.

Owens appeared drunk when he arrived in his hotel in the central city of Puebla after a show Monday night and apparently died of "broncho-aspiration," a police official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Broncho-aspiration is the act of drowning in one's own fluids, such as vomit.

White's band lamented the musician's death and announced the cancellation of the rest of its tour.

"It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah 'Ikey' Owens," the band wrote on its website.

"Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled."
