Singapore International Film Festival Call For Entry

The Singapore International Film Festival returns for its 26th edition from Nov 26 to Dec 6. Film submissions are open till Aug 21, 6pm. The festival will consider feature films and Asian short films that are making a Singapore premiere and have not been broadcast on television or made available on the Internet. It has also opened the call for applications for its South-east Asian Film Lab for aspiring directors and its Youth Jury & Critics Programme for aspiring film critics.

Towards the Future - SCO Celebrates SG50

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra kick-starts the SG50 season with a gala concert to celebrate Singapore's Golden Jubilee. Local artists who will perform with the orchestra include veteran Singapore actor Lim Kay Tong, vocalist Robert Fernando, vocal band MICappella and award-winning pianist Serene Koh. This concert is conducted by the orchestra's music director Yeh Tsung.

Taal Saadhana, Tabla Arangetram by G. Lakshmanan

Award-winning tabla player G. Lakshmanan will be supported by renowned artist Sri Ramlal Mishra from India on the sarangi and Sri Susanta Chowdhury on the sitar. Taal Saadhana brings out the beauty of tabla and Hindustani music.

Mahler 8: A Gift To The Entire Nation

Join Orchestra of the Music Makers with a combined Singaporean and international cast and chorus in a rare performance of Mahler's Symphony Of A Thousand, to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday. The concert features eight vocal soloists, two large choirs, a children's choir, a symphony orchestra, a separate brass ensemble and an organ.

SG50@VCH: Lim Yan (SSO)

Singapore's Young Artist Award winner Lim Yan presents two works from Beethoven. Also known as Quasi Una Fantasia, the Sonata In E-flat Major, Op. 27 No. 1 is often outshone by the more famous Moonlight Sonata, which shares with it the same opus number. Eroica Variations is a set of 15 variations, the theme of which was also featured in the finale of Beethoven's Third Symphony.

Scholars & Ink: Artists From NUS And The Alumni

Once Upon A Time In Asia: The Animal Race

Discover animals facts - from learning about animal manure to exploring the symbolism of animals in Asian traditions through stories. This specially curated exhibition for children aged five to nine years old is inspired by objects in the collection of the Asian Civilisations Museum that draw on animals in art across many cultures. It is supported by Science Centre Singapore.

World Heritage In Japan

In this photo exhibition, visitors will be treated to a collection of photographs by Kazuyoshi Miyoshi. The Tools That Built Singapore

This exhibition supported by the SG50 Celebration Fund showcases forgotten tools of the trades which were once prevalent in Singapore. These include the carpenter's hand saw, the hawker's air horn, the labourer's sack hook and the barber's pair of manual hair clippers. The travelling exhibition kicks off at the National Design Centre and heads to various public libraries around Singapore.
