The crowd-pleasing Hong Kong-born balladeer Wakin Chau is back to serenade his fans. The ever cheerful singer-songwriter has released more than 40 albums in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, and his sing-along hits include You Make Me Happy And Sad, Flower's Heart and Friends. With so much material to choose from, the Chinese title of his gig, What Shall I Sing Today, is no empty boast.

Taiwan's campus folk song movement of the 1970s is the spiritual predecessor of Singapore's xinyao wave. The fact that the series of annual xinyao reunion concerts is still going strong is testament to the genre's enduring popularity. The gathering rounds up stalwarts of the scene, including Cultural Medallion recipient Liang Wern Fook (whose musical December Rains is currently being staged), singer-songwriter Eric Moo (left) and the peppy Dawn Gan.
