MOSAIC MUSIC WEEKEND

The Esplanade's acclaimed series of gigs under the banner of Mosaic is back in a festival format. As with past outings, the selection of acts - both ticketed and free - spans genres from indie rock and jazz to electronica and folk.

Highlights include Irish singer- songwriter Lisa Hannigan and British singer-songwriter Patrick Wolf playing their first shows here in a double bill; indie rock duo Tomgirl launching their first album and making their live debut; and South Korean electro-synth group Idiotape making their return here.

ANNEXE SESSIONS: IN EACH HAND A CUTLASS

Progressive rock outfit In Each Hand A Cutlass (photo) - recently announced as one of the home-grown acts the Esplanade is working closely with in its Mosaic Associate Artist programme - will play at the arts centre's newest venue, the Esplanade Annexe Studio. The show is the first stop of the quintet's The Kraken tour, which will see them perform several shows in Singapore, Australia and China.

SIMPLE PLAN TAKING ONE FOR THE TEAM TOUR SINGAPORE

French-Canadian band Simple Plan (photo) have been churning out perky pop punk hits such as Perfect, Welcome To My Life and Summer Paradise since the early 2000s. Their gig here is part of the global tour in support of their fifth and latest album, Taking One For The Team, released earlier this year.

EP RELEASE SHOW: BOXCHILD

Post-hardcore quartet Boxchild (photo) - one of the rising new acts under the National Arts Council's Noise Music Mentorship programme - will release their self-titled debut EP with this launch show. The band's set will be preceded by fellow home-grown acts, metal band Sangriento and math rock band Forests.

SEZAIRI LIVE

Singer- songwriter Sezairi's (photo) new songs from his debut English EP come from the heart and were inspired by his recent marriage. The former Singapore Idol winner will sing the tunes, including Spotify viral hit Fire To The Floor, live for the first time. Limited copies of the self-titled EP in vinyl will be sold at the show.
