EMPRA - REBECCA SINGLE LAUNCH TOUR

Australian rock 'n' roll trio Empra, fronted by Singapore-born singer-songwriter Sanjeev Veloo (above, with bassist Matt Agius and drummer Georgia Flipo), will perform at Hood Bar and Cafe tomorrow night to promote their new single, Rebecca. This promises to be a riotous show - not only is Sanjeev famous for being the frontman of 1990s band The Boredphucks, but Empra have also roped in local post-hardcore rabble-rousers Caracal for their show.

MAAD SOUNDS! WITH ANDY YANG

This year's final edition of the gig series MAAD Sounds!, curated by visual artist and musician Andy Yang, features an eclectic line-up that includes classical Indian/ experimental trio Flame of the Forest, R&B duo Olu and the Vulture and singer-songwriters Esther Lowless and Bennett Bay.

VASANTHAM PONVIZHA LIVE - SG50 CONCERT

An SG50 concert organised by MediaCorp television station Vasantham, this year's edition of the annual event celebrates the rich variety of talents in the home-grown Tamil music scene. With more than 100 talents and a 25-piece orchestra, all helmed by music industry stalwart Mohamed Raffee (above), the three-hour show will be an extravaganza of local and Kollywood hits.

INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL

The ninth edition of the annual International A Cappella Festival, organised by the home-grown A Cappella Society, takes place this month and features more than 100 local singers performing in 10 concerts. The acts this year include Singapore's Key Elements (below) and Urban Rock Choir as well as Swedish group Vocal Six and Japanese outfit Jarnz.
