LOS ANGELES - The eighth and final season of hit HBO TV series Game Of Thrones will be shooting multiple endings, in a bid to avoid possible episode leaks.

In a report by entertainment trade rag Variety, HBO's president of programming Casey Bloys was quoted as saying: "I know in Game Of Thrones, the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens."

He added of the final season, which may air either next year or in 2019: "You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end."

The move comes after Season 7 of the show, which ended last month, was plagued by several early episode leaks.

This strategy is not new for immensely popular TV shows, and has reportedly been used for shows such as Breaking Bad and The Sopranos before. Usually, not even the cast and crew will know which episode that they have shot will eventually air as the true finale.
